Some responsibilities of an advocate are:
- Provide two-way communication between APTA Geriatrics and the state chapter.
- Communicate with APTA Geriatrics members in your state when there are geriatric-related issues, courses, meetings, etc. in your state.
- Hold at least two activities each year to promote optimal aging, increased awareness and knowledge of PT for aging adults in your state.
- Be creative! Come up with other ideas to promote PT for the older adult and healthy aging in your state!
VOLUNTEER to be a State Advocate or Co-Advocate:
- Visit APTA Engage and submit the application
- Review job description and submit your application
- Email the Regional Coordinator for your state if you have questions or would like to discuss before applying.
