GCS Prep Webinar 2 - Functional Outcomes
This webinar will focus on
functional outcome measures utilized across the continuum of care. Clinicians,
especially advanced clinicians, are expected to demonstrate knowledge related
to the validity of the measures and how to utilize these measures in developing
the plan of care and determining progress. How to develop guides for clinical
decision-making based on the outcome measures' clinimetrics will be shared.
About The Speaker(s)
Dr. Heitzman is an Associate
Professor and Physical Therapy Program Director at Maryville University in St.
Louis. Dr. Heitzman is board certified by the ABPTS in geriatric and
neurological PT, holds a clinical wound specialist from AAWM and
serves as an item writer for the new ABPTS board certification in wound
management. She serves on the accreditation committee for the ABPTRF as a site
team content expert and candidacy review council, an elected member of ACAPT
nominating committee and is the ACAPT liaison to the workgroup for the APTA
Fellowship in Education Leadership (ELI) as well as serving on the ACAPT
advocacy Task force. Dr. Heitzman is a
graduate item writer for the National PT Exam through FSBPT and was inducted into
the FSBPT Advance Item Writers Academy. She has been active in APTA
components/chapters/academies for over 40 years serving the APTA Geriatrics as
past Director, Vice President, Program Chair, nominating committee chair and
currently serves as course co-coordinator of the CEEAA, member of the Gerinotes
editorial board, and manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Geriatric Physical
Therapy. Dr Heitzman has also served in various elected and appointed positions
for state chapters in MO, AL, IA and KS.
Dr. Heitzman has written educational monographs, published peer reviewed
articles, co-authored book chapters, and presented on various topics related to
the aging adult at the state, national and international level. She received
the Joan Mills in 2010 and President awards in 2009 and 2011 from the Academy
of Geriatric PT; and the APTA Lucy Blair Service Award 2018.
