Prepare for CSM 2025 Proposal Submissions
The submission window for CSM 2025 in Houston will open in January 2024 and close in March 2024. As we look forward to this event, we write to share some important information to help guide those who are beginning to prepare submissions.
First, we want to thank all of those who submitted proposals for CSM 2024. APTA Geriatrics had a 100% increase in submitted proposals this year! This is a great sign of the growth our Academy has experienced!
For CSM 2025, we encourage you to consider contributing your knowledge and experience by submitting proposals on the following topics (subject to change):
- Senior athletes
- Interventions/patient care specific to SNF
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Sleep
- Bone Health
- Complex comorbidities
- Falls and vestibular
- Falls and concussion
- Cardiovascular and pulmonary management in the older adult
- VA/veterans care
- De-prescribing
Additionally, we are requesting proposals include components of active learning to better engage attendees and enhance their translation of learning into practice.
Finally, we are sharing an important relevant decision that was made at the CSM Stakeholder Meeting at APTA Headquarters this past year. Starting in the 2025 submission cycle, each speaker will be limited to speaking 3 times during the conference in any section. This applies to ALL speakers and co-speakers.
While there was much discussion prior to these decisions being made, the following provides a brief summary of the reasoning behind the change. Limiting the number of submissions per speaker works toward improving the diversity of speakers at CSM and allows for more new speakers to be included in the conference (we are also working toward a partially blinded process). Additionally, scheduling at CSM is multilayered and having speakers in multiple sessions creates an increasing level of scheduling difficulty to avoid double-booking presenters.
We are being intentionally transparent regarding this change so that speakers can plan accordingly this year and submit proposals across conferences as appropriate. We encourage you to submit your strongest proposals and have an awareness of other submissions in which your collaborators are included.
Watch for submission instructions and links to be made available in January 2024.
